Overview:
Our client is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Vice President of Finance with strong operational multi-modal experience specifically for its Ontario and Manitoba transportation business. This senior leadership role will be instrumental in driving the financial success and growth of the business unit.
The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, experience in mergers and acquisitions, and a hands-on leadership style via a flare for operating within a multi-modal service industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations of the ON & MB business segments, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the growth plans and operational objectives of the provincial businesses.
- Lead the ON & MB finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the senior leadership team.
- Manage cash flow, optimize financial performance, and ensure the province(s) financial stability.
- Lead and participate in mergers and acquisitions related to the business growth, including all Finance due diligence and Operational integration processes.
- Prepare and present financial reports and analyses at monthly business reviews and other key meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards
- Engage with operations teams to provide financial guidance and support decision-making processes within the business.
- Travel to various provincial locations (approximately 5 days per month) to build relationships and stay connected with operations.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Proven experience in mergers and acquisitions, cash flow management, and financial planning and operational management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various business locations (approximately 5-10 days per month).
